Potomac watershed cleanup at the C&O Canal Park in Point of Rocks, MD (April 18th). Volunteers join together to collect trash along the C&O canal and Potomac floodplain corridor. An annual community event since the mid-1990's supporting the regional Potomac Watershed Cleanup initiative. Everyone's welcome!

Directions: From MD Rt.15, just north of the Potomac River in Maryland, turn east onto Rt.28 (Clay Street) .. Appoximately one-quarter mile, turn south (right) at the Masonic Lodge (just west of the MARC parking area), and a quick right onto the CSX rail service road. A couple hundred feet beyond, the entrance into the C&O Canal Park is on your left. Cross the rails and pass over the Canal Bridge to access the boat ramp parking area.

Parking is available within the C&O NHP boat-ramp parking area in Point of Rocks .. or at the adjacent MARC parking area, if need be.

The Point of Rocks cleanup event, held on Saturday April 18th,will kick off at the parking area of the C&O Canal Park just south of town. From there, volunteers may head east or west along the canal path and Potomac River floodplain. A fun morning with family and friends, for however much time you might have available. Wear old clothes and gloves suitable for gathering trash along the canal path and river corridor. Trash bags and light refreshments are provided at the C&O Canal Park staging area. Volunteers may wish to bring wheelbarrows or wagons to help transport filled trash bags to a central drop-off area. All trash collected within the park will be removed by the Park Service.
