Suggestions

The Point of Rocks cleanup event, held on Saturday April 7th, occurs one week prior to the main Potomac River Watershed Cleanup day on Saturday, April 14th.

Our event will kick off at the parking area of the C&O Canal Park here in town. From there, volunteers may head east or west along the canal path and Potomac River floodplain. A fun morning with family and friends, for however much time you might have available. Wear old clothes and gloves suitable for gathering trash along the canal path and river corridor. Trash bags and light refreshments are provided at the C&O Canal Park staging area, and all trash collected within the park will be removed by the Park Service.

Directions to C&O Canal Park in Point of Rocks: from MD Rt.15, head east on Rt.28 (Clay Street) approximately one quarter mile. Turn south (right) at the Masonic Lodge (west end of MARC parking area). Turn right onto the gravel CSX service road, and proceed several hundred feet to the park entrance. Turn left to enter the park, passing over the railroad tracks and canal bridge. Ample parking is available within the park, or if need be, at the adjacent MARC parking lot.
