Every first Sunday of the month, Ranger Steph leads the Sunday Shoreline Sweep-up at Oxon Cove Park. In April, the event will be part of a larger effort, the annual Alice Ferguson Foundation Potomac River Watershed Clean-up. Come join the fun! Come alone or bring a group! Rileys Lock/Seneca Landing Cleanup

Cleanup Event

Participants will use canoes and kayaks to pick up trash from Seneca Creek and from the nearby Potomac River. Canoes may be available for loan to volunteers in the group. There will also be cleanups from land. A group of paddlers experienced in whitewater , providing their own boats, will meet at Seneca Landing and move downstream to Pennyfield Lock.

Shepherd Parkway Community Clean-Up

Cleanup Event

Shepherd Parkway is a 197 acres unit of National Capital Parks-East which runs along a hillside overlooking the Potomac River in southern part of DC. These woods contain Civil War earthworks, two Bald Eagle nets, and panoramic views across the city. Since 2011, the Committee to Restore Shepherd Parkway has mobilized volunteers to remove over 20 tons of trash and debris from the park.


Our community clean-ups are held every second Saturday of the month from 10:30 am to 1 pm.

We ask that groups meet at the Community Center to pickup the supplies and then spread out across the City to the areas of highest impact. Greenbelt Stream Cleanup

Cleanup of Still Creek in Greenbelt in partnership with Mishkan Torah synagogue.

We will be doing a cleanup of the area around Still Creek, one of three streams that run through Greenbelt. The area is very muddy, so participants should wear boots or sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Participants also should wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and a hat to protect against ticks. Participants should do a thorough tick check following the cleanup.

Bring work gloves if you have them, but we also will have gloves at the site. We also will have trash bags at the site.

Stream Cleanup April 8. Join the Eco-Action Team in its 4th annual stream cleanup in Gaithersburg as part of the creation-care outreach of St. Rose. Potomac River Watershed Cleanup at National Colonial Farm

Pitch in and pick up at this year’s Potomac River Watershed Cleanup!
Volunteers are needed to help remove trash and debris from the Potomac River shoreline. This is a great opportunity for families, service-learning students, as well as Boy/Girl Scout and other groups. Trash bags and gloves will be provided; please wear sturdy water-resistant shoes and clothing appropriate for slippery and wet conditions. All volunteers should check in at the Visitor Center before being directed to a cleanup spot on-site.

Please Note: Clean-up site is located at the National Colonial Farm, 3400 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek, MD. There are several clean-up locations on Bryan Point Road, please make sure you report to the above address.

Spring cleaning takes on new meaning during this year’s community-wide Green Up Day.

Join hundreds of volunteers as they make a difference throughout the community by cleaning up and beautifying local streams, schools, parks, and homeowner association common areas during Community Green Up Day. The City is looking for volunteers for this event. Students can also earn student service learning credits.

Please wear clothing and footwear that are weather appropriate and that can get dirty, muddy, or wet. Although the City supplies equipment, volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening materials and gloves for landscape and planting projects.

For those interested in earning Student Service Learning (SSL) hours, please sign in when you arrive, and bring all paperwork with you.

Spring cleaning takes on new meaning during this year's community-wide Green Up Day on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9 a.m. until noon. Hundreds of volunteers and organizations will pitch in to clean up streams, schools, parks, and homeowner association common areas.

Please wear clothing and footwear that are weather appropriate and that can get dirty, muddy, or wet.  Although the City supplies equipment, volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening materials and gloves for landscape and planting projects.

Rock Creek Park Clean Up-Parklawn Local Park, Viers Mill Rd (by the soccer fields)

Every year a group of community organizations in Montgomery County get together to clean up a local portion of Rock Creek Park. Most years we drag about 2.5 tons of trash out of the park. Everyone always has a lot of fun while making a real difference for the community.

St. Mary's River Clean Up

We will walk the trails, the beaches, and through the woods picking up trash. Those who choose can launch paddle boats and pick up trash along the shoreline.

We supply trash bags and have some gloves. You should bring potable water, sunscreen, hat, paddling vessel and gear, and gloves (if you have them).

Antietam Creek Cleanup

Many of us enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and tubing down Antietam Creek and have had numerous wildlife encounters, including seeing bald eagles and barn owls. Now we have a chance to boost our river karma by cleaning up a creek we love! We will canoe and kayak down the creek, stopping to collect trash.

Our annual cleanup for Dawson Creek, in Rockville's Hungerford neighborhood. Our stream gets trash from the runoff from Rt. 355, so we always have a big haul.

2017 Extreme Cleanup - Shrine of the Sacred Heart - 4.8.17

Join Rock Creek Conservancy for our 9th Annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup. Volunteers will clean-up the lands, banks, tributaries, and waters of Rock Creek throughout Maryland and D.C. Our goal is total stream cleanup of Rock Creek and its tributaries, the parks connected to Rock Creek, and the neighborhoods near Rock Creek where trash originates. We work closely with the National Park Service and Montgomery County Parks.
