This Cleanup is part of the Potomac River Watershed Cleanup

April 14, 2018, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM


This is an opportunity for community members to gather, clean up and prepare the Amphitheater for it's upcoming season. We have several things to achieve on this day so the more the merrier.

Here is how you can help:
Mulch Path
Remove Leaves from audience area and off roofs
Clear parking areas
Power wash deck & fencing leading to theater
Clean and Set lights
Clean Seats and seating area
Clean Sound booth and concession area

Upon arrival, you will need to sign the Alice Ferguson Foundation Volunteer Liability Waiver and Photo Consent Form. We will have some snacks and water available for you to take a break, but we highly encourage you to bring your reusable water bottle.
Dress comfortably for the weather in clothing that you don't mind getting paint or dirt on and be ready to have fun!

Directions

Directions: Turn west from Route 210 onto Livingston Road. (NOTE: Livingston Road crosses Route 210 several times. The intersection you want is at B&J Carryout.) Take the first right turn onto Biddle Road and travel one block. Turn left onto Bryan Point Road.

About 2 miles down on the right, you’ll see a small sign for the Alice Ferguson Foundation and Hard Bargain Farm. This is the entrance to the outdoor Theater in the Woods. Park at the first available space. The amphitheater is a short walk using the lighted path to the left and down the hill.

Mallows Bay Trash Cleanup

Cleanup Event

In Mallows Bay, more than 100 World War 1-era wooden vessels rest in the shallow bay -waters and along its shoreline marking one of the most curious yet important periods in the Nation’s maritime history. It's an exciting year to be along this section of the Potomac! Mallows Bay and an adjacent area of the Potomac River are being considered for designation as a National Marine Sanctuary. Additionally, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, in cooperation with MD DNR, will be launching a new water quality buoy for recreational and commercial users!

Bring a canoe, kayak or walk along the shore. Join local historians and archaeologists who will share the stories of Mallows as part of the cleanup activities. If you need a rental, please contact Judy at Atlantic Kayak (info@atlantickayak.com) or 301-292-6455 - she will deliver and pick up the kayak and safety gear.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Cleanup Event

The City of Hyattsville will be hosting a large scale trash & debris removal in the wooded area adjacent to the University Christian Church. Volunteers are reminded to dress for the elements; long sleeves, long pants and sturdy boots or shoes. Please bring water & sunscreen!

Participation helps to satisfy the State of Maryland Student Service Learning Requirement.

Paddle the Channel - Green the Wharf DC

Clean our waterways event on Earth Day. Gathering the local
Southwest Community and anyone who enjoys the Wharf to spend an afternoon kayaking or walking the Washington Channel to clean the trash and debris, recycle and dispose. Then we will clean up and meet back at the local Wharf restaurants that supported our event.
